Barcelona
Barcelona is a city I return to time and again because it’s filled with all sorts of secret spots, from galleries to ateliers and even hidden restaurants. The Catalans were renowned merchants who brought the world to their capital, which is why it’s so cosmopolitan today. Whether constructing a cathedral or baking bread, there is an inherent embrace of quality, design and craftsmanship for the task at hand that I find so inspiring.
Architecturally and culturally, the city lends itself to endless discovery. You might pop into a food shop and discover behind some displays of olive oil and canned asparagus three tiny tables where you can enjoy extraordinary meals. Get lost in the streets of Gracia and you might stumble upon modest houses by Gaudí and other modernist architectural gems.
